FAQs for Fund Managers

Why do investors share their mandate information with BHA?

Investors provide BHA with their mandate information so that they can find fund managers that match their requirements and preferences. Investors also appreciate the market insight they glean from BHA's analysts who have an ear to the ground.

What categories of investors do you speak with?

BHA's research analysts speak with accredited institutional investors across 15 categories, including funds of funds, family offices, wealth advisors, corporate and government pensions, endowments, foundations, consultants, and private banks.

What differentiates your service from other investor data sources?

Although there are many sources for investor data, most provide contact databases—lists of investor names, addresses, phone numbers and, in some cases, e-mail addresses. BHA offers that and more. We provide investor mandate information—current investor preferences and requirements, including the types of funds and strategies, as well as the sectors and regions, that investors are looking for now and in the near future.

How often do you update your investor profiles?

BHA analysts speak with investors every 90 days to update their mandate information. You can be sure that you have access to the most current and accurate information available.

Are there any other benefits to the BHA service?

Another key benefit, which differentiates us from our competitors, is our team of research analysts. Clients can choose to have a dedicated research analyst provide marketing support, including lead generation, trip support, and vetting of investor lists.

What countries do you cover?

BHA has global coverage across all major financial regions, including North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. An analysis of our database shows 40% of the mandates are from North American investors and 40% are from European investors. The remaining 20% are mandates from investors throughout the rest of world, including China, the Middle East, and Brazil.

Are fund managers locked into long-term contracts?

No. New clients may begin with a 6-month trial service to our mandate database, after which they can elect to purchase a 12-month subscription.

How are you compensated?

BHA is paid a flat subscription fee for our service. We do not charge success fees, nor do we receive a commission on the assets raised. This model proves to be extremely cost effective for our clients.

Can we reference BHA when we contact investors?

Yes. In fact, many investors request that fund managers reference BHA when contacting them. Then they know that the fund may be a good fit, because the fund manager is referencing current mandate information in BHA’s database.

Where are your research analysts located?

Our research analysts work from our corporate headquarters, which is in Southborough, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston.

What is the background of your research analysts?

Our research analysts have BA degrees in economics, finance, and business; some also have MBA degrees and hold Series 7 and 63 licenses. Typically analysts work for a couple of years in finance-related positions before coming to BHA. Research analysts participate in an extensive training and development program and are mentored by senior research analysts as well as research managers.

Do research analysts specialize in types of funds or strategies?

No, our research analysts are well versed in all alternative fund types and strategies so they can capture the most relevant mandate information from each investor.
